Henri Cartier-Bresson. All-Union Physical Culture Parade in 1954 in Moscow. The performance of athletes of the Moldavian SSR. The original vintage print of 1955. Photo has not been published before. Cartier-Bresson is surprisingly happily lucky photographer, even for this #photo, it seems standard qualityfor him. Sometimes, by the will of fate, the #photographer turns out to be a participant and chronicler of a #unique moment in #history, the fate of a person or an emotional fact, and that’s why the ordinary #photography becomes a symbol for all, the phenomenon of world or national culture. Some photos take on its importance immediately, others after many years, but many are unfairly was buried forever. Cartier-Bresson was the only Western photographer who photographed the last All-Union Physical Culture Parade in 1954 at the Moscow #stadium "#Dynamo" in the history of the USSR , which was dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the reunion of Ukraine and Russia. An interesting fact - this #parade and this is a delegation from the #Moldavian SSR photographed by another famous photographer - Dmitry Baltermants. The difference is that Cartier-Bresson photographed the beginning of the delegation's #performance, and #Baltermants - the culmination of it. About 40,000 people took part in it. In the mass gymnastic performances participated of about 30 thousand people from the all The Union Republics (from 300 to 420 in each, except the largest variants: Belarus - 700, #Ukraine - 1000 and #Russia - 2800); a column of schoolchildren in Moscow (1300); Column of students of higher educational institutions of #Moscow (2800), column of students of the Central Institute of Physical Culture (850), a column of students of the Central Institute of Physical #Culture (850), a column of students of the Institute of Physical Culture named after PF Lesgaft (850) gymnasts of sports societies of trade unions (4000), participants in the artistic background (7000). Parades in the , #USSR, for a long time, were powefull instrument for #propaganda and influence on the mass consciousness of citizens. #henricartierbresson #cartierbresson #greatphotography #collectingphotography

The photographer made a classic ceremonial portrait of the Emperor. At first glance, it seems this is a simple task. But this is not so. The photographer had to compete with the artist. And he almost won this competition. Greatness, Tradition, Confidence, Calm ... Almost .... Notice the Emperor's left hand - on fingers that are clenched into a fist. Try this do....
