Part 12 So the midwife left , all 6 pups were out of Lana and we were very tired after sleepless 24 hours. I assumed that it was the time for me to peacefully fall asleep and leave behind all the troubles of that day. But I was mistaken. There was another little surprise waiting for me in the storage of Lana’s selfishness. )) She made up her mind to demonstrate full noncompliance using her delicate condition as her main weapon on the way towards her own comfort. Instead of nicely stay with all the pups in the wooden house that I had bought for her and her family, she started to follow me everywhere having left the pups in the box alone. They were moving helplessly back and forward in the wooden box making high-pitched anxious noise. First I didn’t understand her intentions. It seemed she didn’t want to go to sleep with her pups. Instead she whined at times and followed me with a miserable and uneasy expression on her face. I decided to close her in the room together with the pups and the wooden house. I hoped that she would have no any way out but to lie down on the soft carpet into the nest wither the pups. So ignoring her hysterics I closed the door. And was surprised when discovered that this didn’t do any good but change the situation to the worse. The shrill squeak that was fortified by a loud howling of Lana reached the new high level. In this way the nice music probably have reached not only my close neighbors but also the first floors of our apartment building. When I opened the door and came back , I discovered such a picture: My dog took one pup into her mouth and began to run with it around the room. The poor small didn’t like such an amusement and screamed as loud as he could. The rest of the newborn weere highly stimulated and motivated to be as loud as they could by his squeak. The noise went onto a new level. I being angry as 1 million hungry lions collected all the family and placed it onto my bed. Lana calmed down there right away. So she simply blackmailed me, knowing that I would melt and surrender. My nerves couldn’t sustain any more noise and puppy troubles. The newborn puppies cant keep their own warmth as the heat-exchange system ....

Часть 12 Если вы подумали , что это и есть конец, и Лана счастливо заснет со своим семейством в родильном доме, а я наконец лягу в свою постель. И закрою глаза и , счастливо вздохнув, оправлю в прошлое все неприятности дня, неродившегося малыша, тревогу и беспокойство, суету и неразбериху , то вы ошибаетесь. Впереди меня ждал концерт «не по заявкам», а по зову эгоистичного собачьего материнского сердца. По крайней мере я так ощущала это в тот момент. Лана ни в какую не хотела идти в домик к щенкам. И те орали как резанные и беспомощно теребились словно живые мертвецы ползая внутри пустого загона. Я решила не подавать виду и переждать истерику, надеясь, что Лана образумится и вернется в домик кормить и мирно спать. Но моя собака с беспокойством смотрел на меня, с выражением брошенной жены в глазах, она бегала из кухни в комнату и обратно. «Хорошо »- угрожающе сказала я, между тем шел 23ий час того долгого дня, и я к тому времени я не сомкнула глаз ни на час, а мои нервы были на самом пределе. «Тогда я тебя закрою в комнате, где твой домик, и тебе ничего не останется как пойти туда на мягкую подстилку и наконец обогреть своих малышей»- сказала я Лане и заперла ее в комнате с домиком и малышами....

Part 11 English Version The ultrasound showed 2 beating hearts and something of strange texture. We decided that the third simply isn’t visible on the screen . By that time 16 hours had passed since the first pup was born. The specialist gave to Lana the stimulation dropper to activate the labor work. She as though began to make pushes but stopped shortly after as she was exhausted by that moment. I was also worn out but tried to help as much as I could. I messaged her tummy, stroked it and explained to her that a bit more and it was finished. But it didn’t work. The vet checked her birth canal with the fingers and concluded that the fetus is inside but doesn’t move, we assumed that Lana didn’t have enough might to push it out. Later the reason for that became clear. Then he got to her birth passage with his fingers, the scene wasn’t destined for the sensitive eyes, I would say! At that moment though I cared little about such things, the main aim was to save the remaining puppies and the Mother. He began to pull out clots of something dark. It was an undeveloped fetus who didn’t even form right. After having cleaned that out, he began to grop the next. But it wasn’t possible to rehabilitate him . It looked like he sat in the birth canal for a long time behind the undeveloped one and got suffocated. But we still had one more left. I hated the poor vet at that moment. Though I tried him not to notice that as deep inside knew that it wasn’t his fault. Later it was clear that he saved the life to the 6th one. He himself was very upset and nearly had a tear or 2 in his eyes. He was about 50 and looked like one who managed many home dogs and yard dogs, as well as other creatures. Later we were very touched by the view of 5 multicolored pups peacefully sucking the milk. I very much wished he had left as named him “The Angel of Death” in my head. ...

Part 10 He was the one who actively ate the mother’s milk, sucked the tits with his little mouth very well. The puppies are born blind, their eyes get open only after 10 days. So far her majesty Lana (the mother) showed the demand to live with all her babies on my bed, I had to think about their security. The pups grew very quickly and crawled faster and faster. So I put around Lana the rubber barriers made by myself from the things that I had at home. So coming back to the birth process at 10.30 the activity stopped. It was my dog’s first pregnancy and first 5 pups she presented from 230n at night till 1300. But we still had 3 inside! The midwife said that pauses can occur, the dog will rest and continue probably in the evening. We did not close our eyes over Lana all night through and really wanted to rest with all the puppies outside, but not inside. Especially such stops in childbirth are dangerous for small dogs, since their physical power is limited due to their size. Often in such cases, the C-section is the way out. Before it dogs can not eat for 24 hours. And we had already fed Lana after the 4th puppy. It was very good that we had done the X-ray and determined the exact number of puppies. If not we would think that five is all she had when she stopped! I was very stressed as my dog is 5 kilos at most ad was trying to give birth to 8 puppies! I really did not want to do the C-section. It is difficult for the mother, and sometimes it is absolutely impossible to feed the puppies after such an operation. Around 14.00 Ksenia left, promising that she would return in the evening, and we would continue. Time passed, and the birth did not resume. And the three puppies sitting inside Lana were at risk of death, as they could suffocate. The supply of oxygen stops some time later after the beginning of labor activity. As all the puppies should be already outside. I waited restlessly till 20.00 when I realized that I had to save the situation and take some measures to pull out the three remaining babies. More precisely, this decision was made by us together with my husband who was nearly all the time of the birth on the phone.

Part 9 English Version. First Pup Lilu The first baby, that was a girl, came out into this world at about 2 at night. It was a pup of lilac color, for that we named her Lilu. First there was a bubble coming out that had greyish color, and the baby was inside. It protects the fetus inside the mother’s womb from strikes, absorbs the decomposition products and delivers the nutrients. The minute it gets out of the mothers womb the need of it disappears and its function is fulfilled/ It’s called placenta. Its Interesting that there are dusputes going on whether the mother who is giving birth should eat out the placents after the baby or not. Those who say yes emphasize its nutritional qualities and a big amount of protein in it, that the mother dog needs so much during and after giving birth. Those who are against say that there is lots of waste innit and it can poison the dog or at least not bring to it any good Anyhow, Lana didn't eat the afterbirth bubbles. They resemble excrements, some green liquid came out of it, that has some clever scientific name and looked ANTI appetizing. ))Lana suspiciously looked at it and didn’t want to eat that. In general, the first miracle happened at 2.30 am. The midwife pulled the newborn out of the placenta and slightly cleaned the mucus, then she began to lightly scratch the back provoking the baby to cry. This is how the lungs of a newborn are cleared. Baby puppies make a low, but very high-pitched, ultrasound-like noise. It is impossible not to hear it, because it hits the nerves, so fast and high this squeak or cry. Apparently, to save the puppy's strength, but to make it heard by the mother. A little later, the second boy appeared. Then the red color girl came out again as number 3. Later we gave her a name Masha and she stayed with us. And closer to 9 am, the 4th chocolate-color boy saw the world. Lana's reaction was interesting. At first, she looked apprehensively and fearfully at the twitching сlumps . Ksenia, the midwife put the babies to the nipples to awaken the maternal instinct in Lana. Lana proved herself to be an exceptionally good mother. An hour later, she was lying blissfully on her back, happily dozing...

Узи показало два бьющихся сердечка, и что-то темное. Мы подумали, что 3его просто не видно. Специалист сделала Лане капельницу стимулятора родов (окситоцин) и кальция, необходимого собаке. Она будто бы начала тужиться после них, но быстро устала, так как к тому времени была вымотана . Я тоже держалась из последних сил, гладила живот, делала массаж, уговаривала, но ничего не помогало, дальше роды не шли и потуг не было. Тогда специалист, пощупав живот, сделал вывод, что плод уже в родовом канале, просто у собаки нет сил на потуги. Пальцами в перчатках он залез в родовой проход, зрелище не для слабонервных. Но в то момент мне было уже все равно, главное, чтобы осталась жива роженица и удалось бы спасти оставшихся щенят. И вот он стал вытягивать сгустки чего то темного. Это был недоразвитый плод, который даже не  сформировался , представлял собой массу. Вычистив это, врач нащупал следующего щенка, которого реабилитировать и спасти нам не удалось. Видно он долго стоял в родовом проходе из-за недоразвитого клубка и задохнулся. Но у нас был еще один! В тот момент я ненавидела бедного ветеринара. Хотя старалась сдерживаться и глубоко внутри понимала, что он не при чем. А впоследствии и вовсе стало ясно что он спас жизнь Лане и шестому щеночку. Надо сказать, что мужчина изъявший недоразвитый плод и трупик щеночка расстроился до слез, но старался не показывать виду. На вид ему было лет 50 И было понятно, что врач он опытный, прошедший огонь и воду реабилитаций больших дворовых собак и маленьких домашних… Да и не только собак. Он был очень тронут умильной картиной из пятерых разноцветных кутят сосущих маму. А мне хотелось, чтобы он поскорее ушел. Так как я окрестила его про себя «Ангелом смерти». К 2200 приехала обратно наша акушерка Ксения, ассоциировавшаяся у меня с успешным началом родов и справедливым именем «Ангел жизни». К моей радости она сменила врача. И вот после еще одной капельницы стимулятора, Лана произвела на свет последнего шестого мальчика. Рыжего и прекрасного. И совершенно здоровенького. Как потом выяснилось, ему повезло больше, чем его соседу, так как он рос во втором роге матки. У собак два рога матки, так как они многоплодные....

Часть 10 Впоследствии я его бросала на амбразуру разработки самых маленьких сосков. Так же приходилось и убирать его первым от матери, так как он высасывал все молоко, особенно в начале, когда у Ланы его было мало. Так вот, родив пятого Бернара-Бычка в районе 10.30, роды застопорились. А ведь у нас внутри было еще ни много ни мало целых 3! Акушерка сказала, что такое бывает и продолжение может начаться только к вечеру. Надо заметить , что всю ночь мы не сомкнули над Ланой глаз и очень хотели выдохнуть и иметь все счастливое семейство снаружи, но никак не внутри. Особенно остановка родов неблагоприятна для маленьких собачек, так как их силы ограничены ввиду размеров. В подобных случаях начинает маячить Кесарево сечение. Кстати перед Кесаревым нельзя есть 24 часа. А мы уже покормили Лану после 4ого щенка. Короче несмотря на 5 умильных комочков расслабляться было рано. Хорошо, что мы сходили на рентген и определили количество щенков. Если бы не это, все бы думали, что внутри максимум 5 , но никак не 8! Попробуй-ка роди такую кучу мала, когда сама весишь 4 с половиной кило. Очень не хотелось кесарить, хотя бы потому, что матери тяжело, а подчас и совсем невозможно кормить щенков после такой операции. Около 13.00 Ксения уехала, пообещав , что вернется к вечеру, и мы продолжим роды. Я уставшая , но счастлива осталась с роженицей. Время шло, а роды не возобновлялись. И три щенка сидящие внутри были под угрозой смерти, так как могли задохнуться. Ибо поставка кислорода через какое-то время после начала родовой деятельности прекращается. Так как считается что все щенки должны быть уже снаружи. Дождавшись 20.00 я поняла, что надо спасть положение и предпринимать какие-то меры для вытаскивания трех оставшихся малышей. Точнее такое решение мы приняли вместе с мужем по телефону. Я хочу выразить свою отдельную благодарность мужу, который был со мной постоянно на связи , поддерживал меня и помогал морально, что мне было гипер важно. Я набрала номер скорой помощи для собак (такая есть) цены конечно ломовые, но в тот момент «Мы за ценой не постоим» было обо мне. Специалист приехал с аппаратом узи, чтобы понять , живы ли оставшиеся щенки.........
