🇺🇸 Greens from my trips 🌱. It was a surprise how green Berlin, Eindhoven, and Amsterdam are! I don’t know why, but nature always was very important to me. Green streets, parks or lakes near home, plants, and flowers in my flat - I just need it. I remember how much I missed it when were living in Saint Petersburg (it’s hard to find a tree on the streets there). Now I go to the park or to the lake nearby almost every day, a few times a year go to the botanic garden, and the best gift for me is a plant! 🌳 ⠀ 🇷🇺 Зелень из поездки 🌱. Меня удивило, насколько Берлин, Эйндховен и Амстердам зеленые! Не знаю почему, но природа всегда была важна для меня. Зеленые улицы, парки, озера около дома, домашние растения - без них не могу. Помню, как их не хватало в Питере (там улицы совсем без зелени). Сейчас я хожу в сквер или к озеру почти каждый день, и пару раз за год выбираюсь в ботанический. 🇺🇸 Our trip is over, 6 days, 5 cities, 3 countries. Gdansk, Düsseldorf and Berlin feels like home! The weather, nature, architecture, people and atmosphere are pretty much the same. Eindhoven is more like town from Sims or some casual games, it’s clean, nice and elegant. Amsterdam felt very different. It’s quite, slow, very green and pleasant in the outskirts. But in the middle of the city it’s very loud, vulgar (just look at these postcards in the touristics shops 😅). But architecture is just WOW! The main thought I have after this trip is that we have no difference among citizens of these countries. We all are just people who want to live well. On this note I, sorely missed my home, drove to my country border. In the line to the border control there’s a girl in front of me who was yelled by the guard lady, because she forgot to remove the cover of her passport. The girl mumbled that it looks beautiful this way. On what guard lady said loudly “Lady, you’re in Russia now, no need in beauty in here!” 😆 🇷🇺 Закончилась наша поездка, 6 дней, 5 городов, 3 страны. Гданьск, Дюссельдорф, Берлин — как родные! Та же погода, природа, архитектура, люди и впечатления. Эйндховен — городок из Sims или казуальных игр для домохозяек, чистый, красивый и ухоженный. Амстердам — разный. На окраинах — тихий, неспешный, очень зеленый и приятный. В центре — шумный, пошловатый (эти открытки в туристических лавках 😅). Но архитектура - ах! Главный вывод после поездки — ничем мы не отличаемся от граждан этих стран, везде лишь люди, стремящиеся жить хорошо. И вот в этой мыслью, мучительно соскучившиеся по дому, приезжаем мы на отечественную границу. Передо мной в очереди на паспортный контроль девочку отчитывает дама-пограничница за неснятую обложку паспорта. Девочка оправдывается, мол, зато красиво! 🇺🇸 Last weekend for Vovun and me was all about socialization. And what happens when a bunch of IT workers hangs out together? That's right, it was 2 hours of work-related chatter 😋 I was telling about my current job, why I'm in gamedev, how is it to work in an international company and why I work remotely. So in early spring, I've joined the Green Panda Games team. We're working on the mobile games, I'm responsible for almost everything related to graphics in Terrarium The Garden IDLE 🌿, but I also make graphical assets for other games in the team. The company is based in Paris and Kyiv and recently signed a contract with Ubisoft! I work at my home office and communicate with my colleagues both from France and Ukraine 🇫🇷🇺🇦 Skype, Slack, Trello - what else do you need? No sweating while running to the office in the morning, my work day's entirely under my control, no pressure but still a resource to offer ideas and watch their way to production. Magical, isn't it? 😊 🇷🇺 Все прошлые выходные занимались социализацией с Вованом. А что случается, когда куча людей из IT оказывается на одной вечеринке? Правильно, 2 часа разговоров о работе 😋 Рассказывала, чем я сейчас занимаюсь, как занесло в геймдев, как работается в международной компании, и как это - работать удаленно. Так уж вышло, что в начале этого года я присоединилась к команде Green Panda Games. Мы делаем мобильные игры, я лично отвечаю за почти всю графическую часть в игре Terrarium The Garden IDLE 🌿, но делаю ассеты и для других наших игр. У компании есть офисы в Париже и Киеве, и совсем недавно компания заключила сделку с Ubisoft! Я работаю из дома, каждый день общаюсь с коллегами и из Франции, и из Украины 🇫🇷🇺🇦 Skype, Slack, Trello - что там еще нужно? 🇺🇸 A few months ago, my art-director asked if I can make some animations for our game. Last time I animated was back in college about 10 years ago. Obviously, I don’t remember much about the topic, but the task wasn’t too hard. Rather, it was interesting: animating the chicken with some eggs, the annoyed kitty-cat on a pillow and something like the windchimes. Muscle memory just worked the way out 10 years past. Like in riding the bicycle 🚲 Had something like that happening to you? 🇷🇺 Пару месяцев назад мой арт-директор спросила, могу ли я сделать пару анимаций для нашей игры. В последний раз я анимировала лет 10 назад, еще в колледже, и мало что осталось в памяти с тех времен. Благо, задачи оказались не слишком сложными, да еще и веселыми: анимировать простые и милые шутки вроде курочки на яйцах, недовольного котика на подушке или китайских колокольчиков на ветру. Навыки, полученные 10 лет назад, перешли в стадию неосознанного знания, и не потребовалось много труда, чтобы снова применить их в работе после долгого перерыва. Well, I feel like this summer was utterly depressing and (not really) hard-working period of my life. And now it's all about the anticipation of mine and Vovun's the Big Autumn Trip! The plan is to visit three countries in a row and to celebrate my birthday somehow in some weird place (hope it won't be just an airport). So for me, the last days of summer are all about: 🛤 planning the trip, 💼 working hard, 🖌 trying to stay focus on my projects and maybe draw something since there wasn't any mood in a few months, ⛱️ and of course, getting to the beach on the last day of this glorious summer!
