Tatyana & Andre ☘️ 3 countries at one wedding ⠀ It was a wedding to introduce a couple’s relatives from two countries: Russia and England. We organized a photo zone with national Russian, British and Georgian costumes for cultural immersion. Many guests from Great Britain have discovered that Georgia is not only a state of America but also a beautiful country with breathtaking views and rich culture. 🤓 ⠀ Language barriers were not a problem for having fun! Tanya and Andre set the tone for the evening with a rock 'n' roll dance. The Georgian Feast 🍷 ⠀ The Georgian feast is called supra, which means "table-cloth". It is not only just a meal but an ancient tradition and an important part of Georgian culture also. ⠀ 🔸Tamada is the main person at the table. Usually, this is either the master of the house himself or a respected guest. The toastmaster proposes a toast and then gives the word to the participants of the feast. The atmosphere of the celebration an everyone’s mood on his rhetorical skill and wisdom. ⠀ 🔸Another important position is the merikipe. He is responsible for keeping glasses filled. But also to take care of equal intoxication for all guests. ⠀ 🔸Each glass of wine should be accompanied by a toast. The order of the toasts is a ritualized aspect of the supra. After the popular traditional toasts to God, Georgia, family, the mother of God, various saints, friends, ancestors, and so on, tamada usually improvises. ⠀ 🔸 If after the toast the tamada says “Bolomde!” (“Until the end!”), then everyone has to drink all of the wine in his glass. ⠀ 🔸 At some point, you may see that there is a drinking horn at the table. Its volume sometimes reaches three liters. If a man was offered to drink from the horn, he can’t refuse. The trap is that you’ll have to drink up to the bottom as you can’t put the horn on the table, but you should not pour the wine out. The good news is it is usually the white wine you drink from the horn, which is more harmless than the red one. ⠀ 🔸None of the feasts is complete without the famous polyphonic singing. It gives a sense of unity for everyone at the table. Mostly it is folk songs spread out into several voices. When the wedding is a surprise for the bride 💫 ⠀ This story happened in the spring. Maxim sent us a request to organize a wedding just for two in Kakheti. Everything, as usual: dress, decor, dinner, photographer ... There was only one caveat: the bride does not know about the wedding yet. 🙈 ⠀ Maxim had a plan to make a proposal to Nadia and get married in 4 days. ⠀ Sounds like a movie plot? It was like in a movie actually. We helped our hero to prepare for the proposal: booked a restaurant with a beautiful view of Tbilisi, ordered flowers, agreed on everything with contractors. Of course, Nadia said “Yes!” 💍 ⠀ At that moment our organizer Julia appeared and offered her pre-prepared scripts for the wedding.
