⁠2 hours of driving through the orange color landscapes from the trees covered in snow felt like an eternity. Every person seems to have a place where they like to run away from or the place they wish they could run to. She arrived. She hasn’t been here for almost 5 years. But the place seems like it has never changed. She stepped out of her car, took her envelope, and headed down by the overgrown paths. Every object she passed by was soaked with the memories that she thought were perished a long time ago. Every stone that she touched was talking to her, telling her the stories. As she approached the Dam, it was closed. She used to come here with her family when she was a kid, and she used to go camping with her friends to this place. With a quick glance around to see if anyone is observing her, she climbs quickly the fence to get on the other side of it last time. And here she is, standing in the middle of the old abandoned dam. She is excited to be here again, to feel like the time has never passed. She sits there, recalling her last time being here. It was five years ago, when she was standing here, holding the hand of her beloved one. Back then, they had promised each other to meet here at the same place. And here she is, at the same place five years later, holding an envelope that was holding her like an anchor all that time, giving her futile hopes. Two hours, three, four. But nothing is happening. ⁠⠀ She opens the envelope and pulls out the photographs. As she is sitting on the cracked stairs of the old dam, holding the photographs in her already cold hands, she keeps staring at the photographs with the small enthusiastic smile. She realizes, that our past and memories , define who we are today, and where we will go tomorrow, it will forever be a part of us, and there is no way to completely erase it, unfortunately. By the end of every day, all we are left with are the memories of the past and hopes and dreams for the future.⁠ ⁠ A few weeks ago, when I was sitting in the coffee shop, reading through the paragraphs of a psychology book, preparing for the assignment and learning more about how human perceptions, experiences, and feelings are formed, I found out that everything above is tightly connected to our memories. ⁠ ⁠ But our memories are more complicated than we might think. For a very long time, I believed that every moment of our life is stamped in our heads forever, but in fact, it does not work this way. Our memories are usually tightly connected to objects, places, people, smells, sounds, times when we are happy and times when we are sad.⁠ ⁠ As a matter of fact, I felt that this topic is worth talking about, and it became the main subject of the story that I have created. The story that became the main idea for the photoshoot⁠ ————————————————————— 6 am. The hideous sound of the alarm that goes off every morning just started the day. Steam from the Moka pot spreads the smell of roasted Arabica beans increasing already elevated heartbeat that can be heard in the silence. The half-empty room is still dark from the dusk, and only a yellow envelope that lies in the middle of the table attracts her attention. Hesitating to take it into the hands, she sits nervous, forcing herself to finish the coffee that she used to enjoy so much. As the first rays of the sun fell gently upon the frozen leaves of the tree in front of her balcony, it was time to leave. ...⁠ ⁠ To be continued...⁠

When I was scouting for the location a week before, I decided to add some items that might add to a story, so I took a picture of the museum from the same spot where I planned to take pictures in the future. Later that evening I created a quick sketch from the photograph. Although night time is not considered to be the best time to take pictures, I think that night brings us a lot of benefits. First of all, the streets are empty. There are almost no cars, less people, and the city glows differently. Secondly, the night brings us the majesty of mystery. What is the perfect photo session for you? ⠀ ⠀ For me personally, there is only one remark after the photo session that I need to hear to know that everything went 100% smooth with photoshoot process - «it didn’t feel like a photo session at all » ⠀ ⠀ We all know how uncomfortable the tension might be for both the person behind the camera and in front of it, and I strongly believe that this feeling transfers to your final photographs. For these reasons I really believe that it is very important to create a connection with the person before you take photographs. That’s why I think it is incredibly important to meet with the person at least once before the day of the shoot, and if there is no such chance, I always leave my camera aside for the first 15 minutes just to know the person a little bit better. Recently, during my routine morning scrolling of the Instagram feed with the cup of coffee in my hand, I stumbled upon a post that got me thinking on how can I create more storytelling photographs ( that I have lost later so I am not going to share it with you, unfortunately) ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Well, as it is easy to guess, all you have to do is to take an interesting story and try to capture the moments as precisely as possible. Starting from this, I realized, that another way to do that, is to create a whole character for the person who will then "play" it.
