Still, it was amazing that the show jumpstarted from song #1. Yet, sparks really flew with #dancewithsomebody and their greatest hits. Grand festival grounds and an apt location for their 20th anniversary and performance of their new song #onelastfire - could become the hymn for the #amazonrainforest ... (

Saturday night at #neusserbürgerschützenfest hosts the #fackelzug. The name is not misleading. Throngs of #grenadier fake batallions parade the streets of #neuss carrying torches or illuminated walking sticks. #brassbands orchestrate the march and young and old revel in joy. The highlight of the #parade are undoubtedly the illuminated and hand-crafted carts that each deal - more or less successful - humoristically with a local or global topic. Still, I seem a bit at odds with watching uniformed torch bearers parade the streets of a medieval German town at night, especially as it seems a men-only affair and some of the illuminated carts tend to proclaim narrow-minded and highly conservative mottos - some diversity waggons cannot distract from that. Like at every local #beerfest, the standers-by are busy drinking and having a good time. After all, it is like a mixture of carnival and lampoon parade for adults. Entry is free, #alt and #kölsch are flowing and the usually sleepy city is bustling with life. The #fackelzug starts at 8.45pm and lasts 3 to 4 hours.

Surprise, surprise. Just a bit off the beaten track, between #Leverkusen and #bergischgladbach and close to #cologne, this gem of a medieval #cathedral lies hidden in a valley near #odenthal. A picture perfect spot for weddings, you can also listen to organ concerts on specific dates and attend wellness and youth seminars in #hausaltenberg For a grand day out, there is enough to see and do on the grounds for children: sheep, playground... #Lucerne has always been a special place for me. There is so much to see and do in the town itself. But apart from a river cruise, you should definitely join the throngs to visit #mountpilatus near #kriens. Take the #funicular (change once) up to the mountain top for CHF 70 p.P. With children do plan a stop at #krienseregg less than half way and visit the great playground and nice (and less crowded) restaurant (great view). For budget travelers: ride to playground only is CHF 20 p.P. (children half-price). Up until August 25, you should try to experience the picturesque #openair #cinema at river #Rhein in #duesseldorf. Lovely view and nice surroundings for a stroll before the #films start at 9.25 pm. Even off the #bigscreen you can watch merchant boats floating by and tourist planes soaring above. Makes a wonderful #haptic experience. I watched #astarisbornmovie and was delighted.

#raketenstationhombroich and the #langenfoundationmuseum is an apt location for a grand day out. Entrance to the premises is free and I was rewarded with some superb architecture and some sneak views into artists' ateliers. The museum hosts changing #exhibitions. entrance is €8 for adults. #neuss #artinduesseldorf

The exhibition at #langenfoundation near #Neuss is gorgeous. The Japan collection of the Langer couple curated currently with the title A Sublime World is breathtaking. Using the unique exhibition rooms on the premises of the former #raketenstationhombroich, the paintings, sculptures and objects drew me right into the amazing Japanese culture of the 12th to 20th century. But also take your time to explore Anne Pöhlmann's #japantraum exhibition and visit the widespread area of the rocket station.
