But 1st of Nov 2012, when they changed it to the new one during modernization, was the date that ruined the routine for one conservative lady. ⠀ This voice belongs to Oswald Laurence. After his death, his wife, Margaret McCollum, was coming every day to the Embankment station, just to listen and to say “Hi, dear. Yes, I will”. So the new voice just took away the last feeling of presence of her husband in her life. ⠀ Once they changed it, she wrote to the Metropolitan department asking to have this record for herself. The record reached her just before the Christmas. ⠀ But one day, coming back to the station, she heard all the same beloved voice again! They went further and put it back only on her station where she lives. ⠀ That’s how the only one station in the whole city has the different announcement.
