Said at the time to be costing £250 million ($323 million) to build, the two-tower complex was to feature 1,133 luxury apartments over 2.4 million square feet, with each flat costing between $133,000 and $379,000 in bitcoin. ⠀ According to The Times, government inspectors visited the construction site in January 2018 and declared the project as “on hold.” Construction, planned for completion by this summer, is no longer underway, according to the report. ⠀ Baroness Mone is also a lingerie designer and peer of the U.K.’s House of Lords, while Barrowman, her life and business partner, is a business mogul and founder of private equity firm Aston Ventures. And we will continue to stand-up for investors and seek justice on their behalf when misled or cheated by any of these companies.” ⠀ According to the statement, Bitfinex sent $850 million of customer and corporate funds to Crypto Capital Corp., a payment processor that is said to be holding funds from other exchanges as well, such as QuadrigaCX. Wirex’s card allows users to convert and spend cryptocurrencies wherever Visa is accepted, till now supporting 8 cryptocurrencies and 10 fiat currencies. ⠀ The stablecoins can also be “instantly” converted to other stablecoins at over-the-counter (OTC) rates, the firm said, adding that the new crypto offerings could have use cases in remittances, token issuance and redemption, and merchant settlements. ⠀ The Stellar network was chosen over other blockchains because of its better security and scalability features, as well as lower costs for real-time transactions, Wirex said. The firm will also add Stellar’s native token, lumens (XLM) to its platform. ⠀ Tech giant IBM also notably uses Stellar for its payment network World Wire. After a major hack last September, the previous owner, Tech Bureau, moved to sell the business to Fisco for $44.7 million. ⠀ In the breach, Zaif lost approximately $62.5 million in bitcoin (BTC), bitcoin cash (BCH) and monacoin (MONA). ⠀ Since then, registration of new members had been suspended, while trading, depositing and withdrawing MONA had been on hold. The official transfer of the exchange to Fisco took place on Monday and full services resumed today. ⠀ 🇯🇵Japan is one of the few countries to recognize bitcoin as a legal method of payment.
