One whole year on from Covid-19 taking over the world and our first lockdown. Wow I can’t quite believe it, what a rollercoaster of a emotion it has been! This time last year I found out I was pregnant and then the world around me just stopped. But in a weird way, I am kinda grateful for what was such a tough time. So today I decided to write a list. 3 things covid helped me to be grateful for: 1. Having a healthy son 2. The fact I never lost a single family member to covid 3. I have a job, a roof over my head and food in my fridge These three things may not seem anything out of the ordinary normally but if you speak to other people and things they’ve had to experience during the past year, you would feel like you’ve won the lottery having all of the above safe and happy. I’m a day late because we had too much fun yesterday but... 🤍 Happy 1st Mothers Day to me 🤍 This moment feels like only yesterday. 36 hours of induced slow labour, a hormone drip, epidural and an Epistotomy later and you were born. 07/11/2020. And today we celebrated our first of many mother’s days together - I am SO beyond grateful for you pumpkin. The greatest gift is simply being your mummy. Thank you for the best day! 🥲 here’s to many many many more mother’s days together...

✨DISCLAIMER: This isn’t one of those “oh look at how wonderful of a mother I am” breastfeeding posts (well maybe slightly lol) but #fedisbest and I don’t want anyone to feel offended by this post in any way. ✨ I simply just wanted to congratulate and celebrate my body as every day we get one step closer to weaning. Both on to the bottle and food. So I’m feeling reflective. I looked down this morning and you were no longer my tiny weeny baby figuring out how to latch and I wasn’t your over-baringly anxious mother trying to find the right position to awkwardly feed you in. I feel like time has flown by and we’ve literally grown together! Mastitis n all. But honestly without sounding like one of those annoying preachy mums I am SO proud of me, my body and my saggy stretch marked boobs. I never thought I’d ever be capable of feeding a child simply using my own body (as weird as that sounds) let alone doing it for over four whole months. It’s truly shown me how amazingly incredible the female body is. And I’m so pleased that I had the opportunity to breastfeed, what a blessing it is and one day was to have that ability. One day I won’t look down and see your chubby little fingers grabbing on to me or your beautiful ocean coloured eyes staring longingly back at me and that’s ok.
