⚽️ Bouncy ball 🏀 ⠀ 🧩 How to play: ⠀ 1.Have a set of flashcards in the middle and two players on the outside, the same distance away. ⠀ 2.Give them both a ball. When the teacher calls out a flashcard, the players run to the card, touch it with the ball, shout out the name and run back to their starting position. ⠀ You can make it more challenging by making them hop instead of run. Or run 3-5 times around a chair (get dizzy) and then run to the flashcard.😉 ⠀ @teach_with_us 👩🏼‍🏫Elvira

I’ll reveal the name of the company in the next post if this one collects 100 likes ❤️ ⠀ I’m very much into teaching online.I’ve been teaching via Skype since 2014, when it wasn’t mainstream yet. ⠀ I remember one of my first online students was a lady who lived in Dubai and owned a beauty salon in my hometown. I was teaching her few classes a week and then on the weekends I was enjoying all the beauty procedures at her salon: manicure, pedicure, eyelashes, and all the other expensive treatments☺️ ⠀ That was the best deal I could have while being a student! To be honest, I would not reject that offer today either, so I’m open to everything. ⠀ A month ago I started teaching kids online. Very young kids. One to one and in groups. I thought I knew how to handle everything in an actual class, so what could be a problem? “Easy” I thought. ⠀ That was one of the biggest confusions of my life. Online and offline teaching are two different realities. No matter how professional you are in one field- you need to start it over, learn from a scratch in another. ⠀ For example, for me it was a great surprise to learn about motivational reward systems such as these: ⠀ On my background I have a rabbit and a dinosaur. I let kids choose one at the beginning and remove another one(there are no apples and carrots on the wall either, just for reference). I explain a kid that the animal he chose is starving and we need to feed him as soon as possible! But we don’t have any food. To get food —apples or carrots — we need to be focused on class and give correct answers during the lesson! Usually kids are very proud that they saved the animal☺️Of course it all works if a teacher plays it right! ⠀ Or another one you can find on the picture under my name: there’s a path to a treasure chest which we approach step by step by giving correct answers or behaving well. There are different types of adventures, you can choose any character your kids like, chinese 3-4 year olds are fond of Peppa Pig, Elsa or Ultraman✨Everything easily found on the internet. ⠀ Do you teach online? ⠀ @teach_with_us 👩🏼‍🏫Elvira ⠀ #teachingonline #englishonline #englishskype #englishforkids

I’m often asked whether Oxford Phonics World Series should be used independently or alongside any other textbook. ⠀ Here’s a chart for you to compare other course books and OPW and make a decision. ⠀ Aaaaand a little tip for using personal flashcards for kids in the end of each student’s book.Call out the words one by one which kids need to find on the page and write their names’ first letters. It’s good for not losing their cards when we play games together in a class. ⠀ Miss them a lot ❤️ ⠀ @teach_with_us 👩🏼‍🏫Elvira

Oxford Phonics World 3 REVIEW. ⠀ Thank you so much for voting in stories about this review!52 followers wanted it to happen😍 I’m glad I’m not doing it all in vain😌 ⠀ The most challenging part of the series for my girls. Because: ⠀ A) it takes time to explain how the new sounds are pronounced, ⠀ B) words became longer, which makes writing more confusing, ⠀ C) harder texts to read, because they are longer and with more and more new words(my students were only 5 years old). ⠀ But the rest is still fun and engaging! The exercises are changed, so kids won’t get bored to do the same activities from level to level. ⠀ The half of the textbook is dedicated to silent E or so called magic E.It is indeed magic, It changes the sound and meaning of words but remains silent! ⠀ When we add an 'e' to the end of a lot of words, especially short vowel sound words, it changes the sound and meaning. It makes the vowel sound long and say its alphabet name: ⠀ "a = ay," "e = ee," "i = eye," "o = oh," " u - you" ⠀ - cap/cape, pin/pine, rip/ripe, can/cane etc. ⠀ This is the hardest part to explain to kids who don’t speak much English yet in English. ⠀ But the textbook is doing a great job making the process of comparing short vowel words and words with E, so kids don’t forget the “old” rule. ⠀ Many sight words are introduced in this part, so kids can have an independent conversation just exploiting the words from the textbook. ⠀ 10 out of 10. The best coursebook to teach phonics. ⠀ Unfortunately, there won’t be Oxford Phonics World 4 review, as I stopped my classes with my girls due to leaving China. More book reviews here : #twubookreview ⠀ ⠀ @teach_with_us 👩🏼‍🏫Elvira

It’s been only a week that I’m here, but so far I love the country. ⠀ Here are the things that caught my eye! ⠀ Forrests are everywhere, even in the town; 🐿 and 🐰 running in the backyard; Beautiful fit young people; Huge choice of products in supermarkets — I’ve counted more than 20 types of only mustard; ♻️Eco friendly living: bridges over highways for animals, trash recycling, animals natural habitats are not touched; 🍻Beer stashed in fridges, personal sauna in almost every apartment, strawberry and grill; 🌊 And of course lakes and the sea. I’ve traveled half of the world from one sea to another, it was worth that. ⠀ Have you ever been to Finland? ⠀ @teach_with_us 👩🏼‍🏫Elvira

Monster, go away! Disclaimer: don’t overplay this game, leave it as a cherry on top of your class! 🍒 ⠀ 🧩How to play: ⠀ 1.Kids sit on their chairs in a line(leave some space between chairs for kids to be able to squeeze into). ⠀ 2.Show any flashcards one by one. kids must either name them or build sentences with them. Put a flashcard of a dinosaur, shark or any kind of scary animal between your pile. ⠀ 3.When you take that card out pretend to be scared and scream so the kids understand what they should do. They should run away and hide behind their chairs! You can act as it’s you are that monstrous animal and “attack” kids. ⠀ Kids usually enjoy the running away part, but sometimes there are brave and plucky ones that want to show off and don’t move at all🙈😃 ⠀ More games here: #eslgames ⠀ @teach_with_us 👩🏼‍🏫Elvira
